Manual Lymphatic Drainage
What is Manual Lymphatic Drainage?
Manual Lymphatic Drainage, is a gentle rhythmic form of massage used to relieve painful swelling and stagnation caused by lymphedema. Sessions are extremely relaxing and clients often report almost immediate reduction in pain.
We use lymphatic drainage massage techniques to move lymph from your tissues to the lymph nodes, then on to be reabsorbed by the system. This eases the swelling in your tissues and in turn, reduces the pain. Regular sessions can improve the functioning of the lymphatic system and keep lymphedema occurrences to a minimum.
Sessions are extremely relaxing and clients often report almost immediate reduction in pain.
Lymphedema occurs when tissues retain fluid that is not completely reabsorbed by the system. This condition often affects people recovering from cancer treatment, surgery, injuries, and those with autoimmune disorders including Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia. A buildup of excess lymph can feel puffy, tight, achy, and sore, even without these underlying conditions.
Testimonial
Cathy is a very gifted and caring healer who listens, understands and holds space for her clients. I am generally a very healthy person but have recently been sidelined by a virus with side effects of extreme fatigue and painfully swollen lymph nodes. I scheduled an appointment with Cathy for a lymphatic drainage massage with the hope of releasing blockages, increasing circulation of the lymphatic system and alleviating some of the pain. Within a few hours of the massage, my energy levels were significantly improved and the pain level had decreased. Thank you, Cathy!
